A Linux distribution based on Arch
What MimOS is
A Linux that lets you love it without hiding how it works.
MimOS is Arch Linux with KDE Plasma and one idea on top: that a system can be warm without treating you as though you could not understand it. It installs in Spanish, encrypts if you want it to, updates itself, and can be undone — every change leaves a snapshot, and “mimos-restaurar” goes back in two minutes.
What you get
An installer in your language
The installer is in Spanish from end to end, including the names a screen reader announces. Erase the disk, install alongside Windows, or partition it yourself.
Disk encryption
LUKS2 across the whole system, with the passphrase asked before boot. Choose it and MimOS handles the rest.
Undo, for real
Every package transaction leaves a snapshot. If something breaks, the boot menu offers you the previous state and restores from there. Measured: two minutes.
The MimOS Store
Applications by category, with checkboxes and no accounts. It installs with pacman directly, and tells you when something is not in the official repositories.
Signed updates
Our own packages arrive over a channel whose signature verifies against a key the image itself carries inside. A tray notification when there is something new.
Light and dark
Two complete appearances, not one theme with the lights off: wallpaper, panel, icons, terminal and login screen, each designed for both sides.
Where you notice it is MimOS
Warmth without hiding Linux
Kindness does not replace transparency. Messages explain the cause and the fix, and words like pacman, ISO, Btrfs or UEFI are used normally: they are the ones you will meet when you go looking for help.
Privacy measured, not promised
No telemetry and no mandatory accounts. And it is not a statement: every network packet an installed MimOS sent was captured across ten minutes of a silent session, and what went out is written down packet by packet, with the reason.
Nothing is claimed without evidence
Every release states what was tested and how, with the limits said out loud. If something has not been measured, it says so — including when the uncomfortable answer is that nobody has checked yet.
What it is built on
Why Arch Linux
A rolling release model, extensive documentation maintained by its community and an enormous package catalogue. MimOS does not reinvent the distribution: it applies a small, auditable layer over Archiso, and third-party software comes from Arch's own official repositories.
