Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions about MimOS: usage, security, limitations, and more.
Frequently asked questions
Can I install MimOS?
Not from Alpha 3's public launcher: it still opens a prototype with no disk access. The project now validates an internal Calamares path on QCOW2 fixtures, but the full matrix has not passed and it is not exposed to users.
Can I use it daily?
No. Published versions are experimental and intended for controlled testing, mainly in virtual machines.
Does MimOS use AUR?
The initial phase uses official Arch repositories. Builds do not automatically install or run AUR helpers.
Does it collect telemetry?
No telemetry is planned and no mandatory external accounts are required.
Is accessibility validated?
Alpha 3 passes 74/74 automated Centro de MimOS, keyboard, AT-SPI, and 100/150/200% scaling checks plus visual review. Human Orca listening is still pending, so it is not considered fully accessible.
Is it an official Arch or KDE project?
No. MimOS is independent and not officially affiliated with those projects.
Why is the ISO split?
The image exceeds GitHub Releases' per-asset limit. The project publishes numbered parts, checksums, and instructions to reassemble and verify the complete image.
Report vulnerabilities
MimOS is pre-stable and does not provide security-supported releases. Reproducible defects should be filed as GitHub issues. Vulnerabilities should be reported via GitHub Security Advisories.
